Matthew Lackie

With over 13 years of communications experience, Matt Lackie has helped build and manage the reputations of some of the world’s biggest brands as well develop communications strategies for startups aiming to make their mark on business and society. During his tenure in PR, Matt has worked across the globe holding communications positions in London, San Francisco, Shanghai and Singapore.
Currently, Matt oversees Waggener Edstrom Worldwide’s Singapore office as well as the company’s South Asian network. In this role, Matt is responsible for formulating the company’s local growth strategy and partnering with the team to execute against that vision. Matt currently leads a team of 25 people who drive both local and regional communications programs for a range of clients including Rolls-Royce, Microsoft, BMC, EMC and the National Geographic Channel. Before taking this position, Matt was vice president for the Microsoft account in Asia, where he managed all of Waggener Edstrom Worldwide’s engagements with Microsoft across the region — covering Japan, Korea, China, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Before joining Waggener Edstrom Worldwide, Matt served as managing consultant for Text 100’s Shanghai office, where he oversaw the development of the company’s local market presence. During this time, Matt helped many international brands such as IBM and Philips navigate China’s complex influencer ecosystem to enhance and manage their local profiles as well as deal with crisis situations.
Before that, Matt was an account director in Text 100’s Singapore office, where he ran regional communications campaigns for Adobe, Juniper Networks and Hitachi Data Systems. Matt also worked with IBM’s software group for six years, based out of San Francisco.
